Sharing Your internet connection trought MAC

In my case, I have an Internet Wireless Connection via my Airport connection and I have a Playstation 3 without wireless signal...
Mac os X have an option inside Preferences > Sharing to share your internet connection.
It seems easy but you cannot found clear information about the configuration.
Configuration in Mac Os: You need to have Internet via wireless and start the option share internet inside preferences > sharing > internet. You need to check the firewall properties to allow this. The second step is go to terminal and look what ip you have in ethernet device, simply write ifconfig en0
In my case I have the ip adress 192.168.2.1 mask 255.255.255.0
Configuration in Playstation 3: Go to Connection preferences and configure Manualy your ip trought cable, and put an ip in the same range, in my case 192.168.2.2. Use the same mask 255.255.255.0 and put the ip of Mac in Gateway 192.168.2.1, in dns use the same > 192.168.2.1
I used a crossover cable between Mac and Playstation 3, you can use normal cables with a switch or hub.
Enjoy Playstation 3 ONLINE !

How to DISABLE USB MEMORY KEYS under Windows XP with SP2

Hello,

A lot of people ask me about this, and everybody knows this security hole, you can copy and extract information in few second...

And there is a solution to disable the connection of memory sticks:

Go to REGEDIT (Press Start, Run..., and write regedit)

Go to the Key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SYSTEM>CURRENTCONTROLSET>SERVICES>USBSTOR

and change the value of Start from 3 to 4.... and it blocks the memory sticks !

If you want to Enable, change the number 4 for 3.

See you soon...

InfraRecorder 0.42.1

Hello !

Today I will show you a good "free" CD/DVD Recorder for Windows 2000/XP/Vista.

InfraRecorder (http://infrarecorder.sourceforge.net/)

The program is totally free and works fine in all Windows, in Vista remember that you need to open the program with administrator rights.
The aspect of InfraRecorder is very tipical, and is easy to use.
You can see an explorer of your computer on the top and the CD/DVD project on bottom.
To change the capacity of your media you only need to right click on the capacity bar, this is not automatic like other recording programs.
Infrarecorder offers you the ability to overbun, burn more than the CD/DVD official capacity.
My point of view about this software is: "Very Nice" because is a very clean solution and easy to use for all kind of people, and off course, free.

IPCOP

How to install a Linux Firewall?

IPCOP is the solution. (http://www.ipcop.org)

Steps:

1.- Download the latest release of ipcop. (CD installation) about 45MB
2.- Burn a cd with the downloaded image
3.- Find a old computer/server with 2, 3 or 4 Lan Cards (it depends if you need DMZ)
4.- Boot from cd, and follow the installation process.

It seems easy but to do you need to know network basics and the ranges of you lan, wan and dmz's if you have.

IPCOP have an addons to improve the firewall solution and add proxy solution and a lot of items.

Check http://www.ipcop.org and test it. It's Free and very easy.

Enjoy.

SonicWall CDP (Continuous Data Protection)

Hello,

I will explain my point of view about this useful product to help you in your file server backups.

Tipical Situation:

Normaly you have a daily backup of your servers, and it starts at night.
Next day you need to check your backups - cartdriges - logs - etc... (In my case I don't like this) and a lot of times you have problems, some files are skiped, or you need to clean the backup unit, or errors and errors and errors...
About this tipical kind of backups, you know: I'm backing up file servers only at night and if some user needs to restore a file created in the same day, maybe, you don't backed up this.
For solve this we have the "shadow copy" inside our windows servers but in some case it works wrong.

I can continue writting a lot of issues but I think is enough to show this problems.

A solution to improve my service for users and make a "real time" backup for me was dream, and forgive the continuos checkings was an utopia.
Soniwall CDP offers you the possibility to backup 14 old versions of your files and it copy all at real time.
In my case, I have some servers outside my Lan and I have bandwith restrictions for cost reasons.
Anytime, I installed SonicWall CDP 1440 for test if is possible to do a remote backup of my remote servers trought Wan (1Mbit bandwith). After the installation of the agent on all servers I defined all I want to backup and SonicWall starts to get all the files in a queue.
We have about 25Gigas of files in one of our external sites and after 2 days the SonicWall works at real time without any queued file. After a week I wanted to restore some files and I could see about 14 old version per file available !

I think SonicWall CDP is a very good "complement" to improve your backup method to online backup. Don't forgot your daily backup because SonicWall CDP Backups your files and old versions but this don't backup the file security (permisons) in standard backup.
SonicWall CDP have more features like a "ghost" image of your servers, exchange backup, and others.

Planning your Holidays?

Hello !

Are you looking to travel out of your community?

If you need to change money for your travel, maybe you can check the money rates to know what is the “best day” to do it.

My case:

I will travel to Japan next September. And every day I’m looking the Yen Rates to know the “best day”. I’m checking it inside this link http://www.xe.com.

In this web, you can create an account and made an automail to check daily, weekly or monthly the world rates.

I know I know ! you are thinking about this automail likes a "SPAM" xD

Ok, I have a solution for this kind of persons that don't like daily emails:

http://www.finanzas.com

Inside this web (Spanish), you can create an alert, and made an automail to you "only" when you decide in a condition. For example: (advise me only when the change of Japan Yen - Euro is better than "155")

Thanks with this, I "win" 15.000 yens comparing with last year, and I can negociate this with my Bankman because NOW I KNOW THE RATES !!!

I wish it help you !

Best Regards !!!
